Outdoor Dinosaur Trail

Project Overview

Client: Greenwood Family Park
Event: Outdoor Dinosaur Trail
Goal: Drive footfall and create an engaging outdoor experience for families at the start of a new season.

Greenwood Family Park, an eco-friendly family fun park, approached iCatching Events and Media to create a dinosaur trail to launch the new season. The goal was to provide a fun, immersive experience for children and families during the Easter holidays, while also increasing foot traffic to the park. With a budget of £5,000, we designed and installed seven small to medium dinosaur displays across the park’s outdoor space, delivering a memorable experience that aligned with the park’s values and needs.

The Installation

The dinosaur trail consisted of seven themed displays featuring small to medium-sized dinosaur props, such as the T-Rex, Triceratops, and Stegosaurus. Each display was strategically placed along the trail, complete with camouflage netting and timber picket fencing to ensure a seamless integration with the natural surroundings, while adding a layer of authenticity to the overall look.

All the dinosaur props were secured to bases, which were then covered with the camouflage netting to not only enhance the aesthetic but also to ensure the safety and stability of the props. This is our approach to provide added security, ensuring that the props remained firmly in place throughout the duration of the event, even in the outdoor environment.

The trail provided a fun, interactive experience as families wandered through the park, encountering each dinosaur and enjoying the immersive setup. The simplicity of the design, combined with the high-quality displays, ensured that the trail stood out and captured the attention of park visitors.

Challenges and Solutions

The installation faced very few challenges due to the easy access and ample time for setup. The site was ideal for such a display, and the task was straightforward. The main challenge was ensuring the stability of the displays in an outdoor environment. To achieve this, we used secure bases, timber picket fencing and camouflage netting, which not only kept the props securely in place but also enhanced the aesthetic, blending them seamlessly into the natural setting.

Design and Execution

With a £5,000 budget, we focused on creating a high-impact, visually stunning experience that was both cost-effective and engaging. The dinosaur displays were designed to be eye-catching yet simple, ensuring they fit well within the park’s eco-friendly theme. We utilized natural materials like timber for the fencing, which helped maintain the park’s commitment to sustainability while delivering a fun experience for the visitors.

The installation was completed in time for the Easter holidays, just in time for the start of the new season, attracting families looking for a fun and exciting outdoor activity.

Results and Impact

The dinosaur trail was a major success, attracting families to Greenwood Family Park throughout the Easter period. The display exceeded the client’s expectations, and the visual impact helped increase foot traffic to the park. The trail became a key feature of the park’s seasonal promotion, with visitors engaging with the display and sharing their experience on social media.

In fact, the success of the initial setup led to the client deciding to push their budget to add another display to the trail. This additional display further enhanced the experience and created even more excitement for visitors.

Client Feedback

The team at Greenwood Family Park was thrilled with the outcome. The dinosaur trail proved to be a popular attraction, especially for families with children. The client was so happy with the success of the displays that they decided to expand the trail by adding another dinosaur display to the existing setup. The displays were well-received by visitors, and the event played a key role in driving foot traffic and engaging the local community.

This project showcased how impactful and creative designs can be delivered within a £5,000 budget, creating a memorable experience that exceeded client expectations and attracted a large number of visitors to the park.
