Transforming a Function Suite into a Luxury Event Space

At iCatching Events, we recently took a basic function suite and elevated it into a luxury event environment, using a carefully considered combination of draping, lighting and table styling.
The result was a space that felt rich, immersive and completely unrecognisable from its original form.
Starting with a Blank Canvas

The transformation began with one of the most effective tools in event styling — draping.
We installed our red crushed velvet drape with overlays, instantly changing the look and feel of the room.
This added:

- A sense of warmth and intimacy
- A dramatic, high-end aesthetic
The overlays helped to soften the look while adding dimension, creating a layered finish that felt both luxurious and refined.
Enhancing the Atmosphere with Uplighting
To take the draping to the next level, we introduced uplighters throughout the space.
Lighting plays a crucial role in event design, and in this case it helped to:
- Highlight the texture of the velvet drapes
- Add depth and movement to the room
- Reinforce the rich red colour palette
- Create a warm, ambient glow
The combination of draping and lighting worked together to completely redefine the atmosphere.
Coordinated Table Styling
To ensure a cohesive finish, the table styling was designed to complement the overall look.
We used:
- Red velvet tablecloths to mirror the draping
- Black chair covers to add contrast and sophistication
This combination created a striking visual balance, with the black elements grounding the design and the red bringing richness and impact.
The result was a polished, consistent look across the entire space.
